My Story

I was born on a dusty wheat field in Kansas. No, I kid. I was born in Los Angeles here in beautiful Southern California. I received my first exposure to the truly transformative nature of music came when listening to Hey Jude at 2:00 am as a 13 year old with insomnia. The beauty and optimism left an indelible mark on my soul and I was instantly hooked. "Classic" rock soon followed. Then as I got older and edgier, heavy metal, punk rock, and psychobilly became my norm. I learned several instruments: trumpet, guitar, bass, keyboards, Irish tin whistle, drums... Any instrument I could get my hot little hands on. Playing music was my passion and my life. I just wasn't very good at it. I left high school with no idea how to make a career in the industry, especially with my subpar performance skills.

Entering college, I had planned to major in economics (which I did get a degree in, it has been absolutely useless). I was attending classes at Citrus College when seemingly out of nowhere, my mom suggested I go through their Recording Technology program. Spots were very limited, but I applied anyway. I didn't expect anything to come of it, considering I had literally no experience in audio production. But to my surprise, I was actually accepted into the program. A year later, I waked out of Citrus with a degree in Recording Technology.

My first professional job in the industry was under the auspices of Grammy award-winning engineer Dan Blessinger at his company DBMix Inc. I am fortunate enough to count Dan as my biggest mentor in the audio realm. Through Dan, I was exposed to the finer points of tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering. Dan's mentorship and guidance set me up to become the engineer I am today. Under Dan, I worked in almost every major studio in Los Angeles as a ProTools engineer. I learned sound design, foley, voiceover, and any and all things you can think of relating to audio. I have most likely forgotten more about audio than most people know.

Through Dan, I was introduced to But Wyatt and Kevin Hughes, two of my biggest mentors. Their expertise inspired me to follow in their paths and begin a deep dive into the fields of electronics and acoustics. It is through these three incredible men that I developed my passion for studio and audio equipment design.
